i just took in a foster dog a few days ago who has a bit of a wight issue you could say!!! he is a black lab, looks like a giant meat ball! he is also heart worm positive, which he is now being treated for. we think he's about 5 years old. i need to get some weight off of him and make him healthy again. we have him on a weight management food. he is about 80 pounds and needs to lose at least ten, he's not a big dog. i know with humans the best way to lose weight is to speed up your metabolism by eating several small meals durring the day rather than 2 or 3 huge ones. would this work on dogs? the kenel he was being held at was giving him 4 cups a day of a super premium (merrick) food plus white rice. that just seems way too much to me, expecialy all the carbs from the rice. any help setting up a feeding program for him would be awesome. it's usualy the oposite problem we encounter with shelter dogs so i'm new to this weight loss thing! thanks!!!!
